I'm Carolina de Barros, a PhD candidate in social-personality psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
I'm a social psychologist, specializing in minoritized identities and experiences. For my dissertation, I studied how people in diverse forms of romantic relationships (queer relationships, consensually non-monogamous relationships, and kinky/BDSM relationships, among others) navigate what it means for a relationship to be "romantic" and the social or cultural norms their relationships challenge. I'm also interested in other forms of minoritized identities and experiences, including sexual diversity, gender diversity, and experiences of disability and mental illness.
I'm a big fan of mixed-methods work, and have both qualitative training and experience (using interpretative phenomenological analysis, reflexive thematic analysis, and grounded theory, among others) as well as statistical training and experience (including with SEM and multilevel modelling, among others).
I'm currently in the last year of my degree and on the job market. I'm interested in postdoc and other academic opportunities in Canada and Europe, as well as industry positions.
